Q  is my first bred-by puppy and she has been everything I wanted when I bred her mother, Flame to her dad, MacE.

I love her nice short back, her size and her "take life by the horns" attitude.

Q is lucky to be with the living since the day before her 5 month birthday she was hit by a pick-up truck on the street in front of our house and injured her right rear leg.  We rushed her to the UW-Vet School in Madison, WI (thankfully only an hour away).  They weren't sure if she broke anything but she had to be in a cast for 6 weeks with daily changing of the bandages  and deb raiding of the wound for the first 3 weeks because of all the road rash.   It really wasn't much fun to keep a 5 month old puppy on crate rest for 6 weeks with only leash walking and no jumping (yah right!).  Gordon puppies are not known to be very sedate!

2 months after her accident Q was doing great so I took her to a United Kennel Club show in Rockford, IL.  The judges were very complimentary and she came home with her first competition win and  some points toward her UKC CH.
2010
Once Q turned a year old  I put her in the Bred-By Exhibitor class (BBE).  She's done very well- most of the time winning the class.   In the spring of 2011 Peggy and I took her to the Fond du lac, WI shows where they had a Best BBE competition and Q ended up with a Sporting Group 1.  We were very excited since she beat some very nice dogs in the group ring.
2011

May 11- Q is WB from the BBE class and BOS over 4 bitch specials for her first points-a 4 point major!
Thank you Judge Elliott Weiss.
June 4- Peggy finished Q's UKC Championship with a BOB and Group 3.
2012

January 15- Q starts the year off right at the Oshkosh KC going WB from the BBE class and BOS for 2 points.

July 1- Q goes Winner's Bitch under Judge Michel Faulkner for a 3 point major from the BBE class.  She now has 12 points including both majors, only 3 more more points to go!

August 17- Q goes Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners under Judge Norman Kenney for a 3 pt major to finish.  Way to go Q!!
2nd Major- 3 points!
3rd Major to finish!  New Champion!!
Now that Q's champion title is finished it is on to the "fun" stuff.  We have plans for a Junior Hunter title, a Rally Novice title, and maybe some agility titles.  Perhaps when Q slows down a bit she can even get a Therapy Title and be a READ dog like her mother.  But she has a lot of mellowing out to do!  There are also plans for Q to spend some time in the whelping box.

In September my youngest son, Brian started taking Q to agility class.  They are both having a ball!  Q's favorite obstacles are the dog walk and the A frame.  She loves to be higher than anyone else!  As a parent and a breeder it is exciting to see hints of the team they are becoming.

Q & Brian had so much fun at the beginner's agility class that they are signed up for the next class.   They are both learning to work together although Q isn't quite convinced that she is required to pay Brian 100% of her attention!  Brian is learning how to get her attention back when it wanders!

2013

March 29, Q and I went to a back to back rally trial in Madison, WI.  We came home with TWO qualifying ribbons.   We need to work on sitting when told however!  We lost a lot of points because she didn't want to sit!  The first trial we got a 93 and the second trial a 89.    We are hoping to finish our Rally Novice (RN) title at the Gordon Setter Club of America National Specialty.

April 14-19 Q  and I (along with Flame, Crescent, & Dazzle) were at the Gordon Setter National Specialty in Chattanooga, TN.  Q finished her Rally Novice title by the skin of her teeth!  You need a minimum score of 70 out of 100 to pass and we had 70 right on the nose.  We lost a lot of points because she didn't want to sit-she sits fine at home but not in the ring.  Grrr...  We did get a very nice rosette for finishing at the National!    Then on Wednesday poor Q woke up with cold tail.  She couldn't control her poor tail at all and you could tell it HURT!   She did go in the Best of Breed ring with Martha Martini of Martini Gordon Setters but she couldn't hold her tail up.  Poor baby.
New Title- Rally Novice

May 5 - Q went the the Badger Kennel Club in Jefferson, WI  and came back with her first Grand Champion points.  She went Best of Opposite Sex for  3 points!  Thank you to Michelle for showing her for me!

June 8 - Q was bred to Orion- CH Timbaray Intrigue CD JH.  Puppies are expected on August 8.  It will be a long 9 weeks!

August 7 -Q whelped 3 big boys!  Blue, Orange, and Purple are doing well and Q is being an Awesome mom.  You can see more pictures on the Litter Information page and click on Nail Polish Litter.

August 25- the puppies are walking around (or trying to!) and making lots of noise when something doesn't suit them.  Q has gotten used to the normal puppy squeaks but when they complain she checks on things quickly.  I think these are the cleanest puppies in the world!

October 13 the puppies went to their new homes.  Blue is now Lloyd and live in Michigan,  Orange is now Norris and lives in Wisconsin and Purple is now Carbon and lives with Peggy and Laurie.  Nights and weekends he lives with Peggy and during the week he comes to Laurie's for puppy daycare.  Q loves to play with him!

Hopefully after the first of the year Q can head back to agility class with Brian.

2014

Q has been spending most of 2014 growing coat and thinking of creative ways to escape the fenced area of our yard.  It was an embarrassing moment when the police knocked on my door with Miss Q.  I didn't even realize she was gone!  We found where she had crawled under the fence and my son, Eric, piled about 2 feet of rocks on the other side of the fence.  I saw her try to get out again but she was foiled!

The end of September found us in Oconomowoc, WI at the 2014 Gordon Setter National Specialty.  Two of Q's boys were able to come- they were so handsome!  Lloyd - Lyric N Amethyst Black Onyx and Norris- Lyric N Amethyst Rock the Boat helped Q get a 4th place out of 8 in the Brood Bitch class at the National.    (Thanks so much to Sarah Armstrong who handled Q and to Peggy DaValt & Georgia K. who handled Lloyd & Norris.) I was so excited!  Lloyd and Norris took turns winning their sweepstakes classes and regular classes at the National and the Regional Specialty following the National.

Q in the brood bitch class with Lloyd and Norris at 2014 GSCA National Specialty
4th place in the brood bitch class!
Q in Best of Breed at the 2014 GSCA National Specialty.  She made the cut!
Nov. 9- I took Q to the local UKC shows in Ixonia, WI. My daugther Krista thought it might be fun to show Q in the Champion class. Q got 3 out of 3 in both shows BUT her son Norris finished his UKC Champion title! At show 1 he was Best Male, Best of Breed, Gundog Group 1, and a Reserve Best in Show for his 2nd competition win. Then at show 2 he was Best Male for his 3rd and final competition win! Way to go Norris! Since Q and Norris were at the same place I wanted to get a nice head shot composite. It turned out just lovely!

2017
Q has been having a difficult time adjusting to Cinder's coming and going.  After a few stressful incidents I have made the difficult decision to re-home Q.  I have found her a wonderful home in Colorado.  Hopefully June will find Q living with Kathy J. in a Denver suburb.

Q was my first bred-by dog, my first champion.  I held her in my hands the first moments of her life.  I am so sad to see her leave but I think being an only dog will be the best for her.

Q finally made it out to Colorado the middle of June.  She is doing very well adjusting the the high altitude and her new best friend, Kathy.  She enjoys keeping the squirrels in line and going for several walks a day with Kathy.
Q and her new mom, Kathy
I know there's a squirrel up there somewhere!

January 6 one of her puppies from her Tamhas litter- Stuart- Lyric's Skyfall finished his champion title  at the North Country Specialty in St. Paul, MN with a 4 point major.  He is now CH Lyric's Skyfall.  Congrats to Stuart and his owners.

July 1 one of her boys from her Orion litter finished his champion title at the Kettle Moraine Dog shows in West Bend, WI.  Norris is now CH Lyric N Amethyst Rock the Boat.  Congratulations to Norris's family.

July 15- Fischer- CH Lyric's Thunderball out of the Tamhas litter finished his champion title with three 3 point majors at the Duluth, MN shows.  Congratulations to Scott, Fischer's owner!

That makes 3 champions for Q this year from 2 different litters.

2021

3/31- Q is officially 12!  I'm so happy that is is doing well with her new best friend, Kathy.  She's not as quick any more but still enjoys her walks.

August 27- Kathy made the difficult decision to let Q go.  She had quit eating and was not doing well.  RIP my dear Q.  You have always been been in my heart.
