Koi Pond Deux I Do, I Do, I Do

When Cinder only had 1 puppy on 10/12/19 I asked my repro vet if she knew of any puppies needing fostering.  Dr. Greer put me in touch with Mary Ortel and Kay Sisson who had a little French Bull Dog puppy born 10/16/19.  His momma's milk didn't come in.  I was delighted to help out.  Friday 10/18/19 I drove down to Kay's house to pick Dewey up.  We took Cinder out while we brought Dewey in and put his "sister" Primrose in the box with Dewey and let her sniff them both.  She was a bit surprised that she had two puppies.  Then we had Cinder lay down in the whelping box and put  the puppies on to nurse.  I was a bit concerned that Dewey wouldn't latch on since he'd only been tube fed but he took to nursing with gusto.  I was later to find out that Dewey takes to everything with gusto!  He drank so much I though his belly was gong to explode.  We  let Cinder sniff him then put him in his box with a heating pad.  Cinder was very concerned that he was in the box and not with her.  Then the whole "no tail" thing bothered her too.  She was sure she'd licked it off!   The next day we were able to leave him in the whelping box and that was that.  Of course there was a bit of a size difference!
I had to put a collar on Dewey because it was hard to see him in all of Cinder's black fur!  The yellow stood out very nicely.  As they grew bigger it was fun to watch them interact.  For  awhile I was afraid that Primrose was getting to rough since I would hear Dewey hollering and go in and  find Primrose would have him pinned to the floor.  Then  one day my kids happened to be in the room and told me that Dewey would go over and bite Primrose while she was sleeping then  of course she would retaliate!  I told him he was on his own after that!
French Bulldogs are a new breed for me and it was fascinating to see how his face developed.  What's not to love with a  face like that!  Dewey and Primrose spent lots of time on the couch with me and the kids.  Primrose would just snuggle in but Dewey needed a toy to chew on (or it was your fingers) before he would settle down for a nap.

At 8 weeks I met Kay and Mary up at our repro vet's office for a well puppy visit.  They took him home with them.  Kay asked if I would co-own him with her and I was delighted to say "Yes!"  He will always have a special place in my heart.
Dewey at 4 1/2 months.
